Pumpkin Patch Lotto

Image result for pumpkin quiltsHappy Hollow Designs: PUMPKIN PATCH ESPRESSO FABRIC KITCrazy Old Ladies Quilts: Pumpkin PartyBlock 20 from the Patchsmith Sampler Sew Along; made by Julie Cefalu @ The Crafty QuilterPlaid Pumpkins PDF Quilt Pattern / Modern Quilt Pattern / Fall | EtsyFree pattern: Cat in pumpkin quilt block – QuiltingPumpkin Seeds PatternPumpkin Party | CraftsyPumpkin Season Quilt Pattern

Fall will be here before you know it!    Let's harvest some Pumpkins!  There are so many different sizes, so many different kinds - What Pumpkin in your pumpkin patch will you make?

Who can Swap:  This is open to all swappers in our group.  This is a great way to get in your first swap!  If you are a first time swapper, make sure you have signed the Swapping agreement and read the guidelines.

What to Make:   You can make up to 3 blocks.  They must be at least 6.5 inches, but no bigger then 12.5 inches.   They can be tall rectangle, square, or wide rectangles.  They can be scrappy, all one color, plaid, strip pieced, have a maple leaf or star in them, but the Pumpkin must be the star of the block!

Blocks:  You may use the same pattern, but each block must be different fabrics. I have a variety of examples at the top of the page. There are so many different pumpkins, are you sure you can just choose 1?

They can be pieced, paper pieced, or applique.

Please make a block that you would like to receive.  Blocks that are wonky, not pieced properly( short seams, loose seams) have fusible web, will be returned.

Check your measurements - make sure they measure at least 6.5 up to 12.5 inches.   Square your blocks up to a nice size that when adding strips to make them the same size in a quilt, you would not have to use a 1/2 inch strip of fabric to do so.

Image result for pumpkin quiltsImage result for pumpkin quiltsImage result for pumpkin quiltsImage result for pumpkin quiltsImage result for pumpkin quilts

Applique:  No raw edges.  They must be turned under or covered with Satin Stitch.  No Fusible web.

Fabric:  100% Quilt Shop Quality Pre-washed cotton fabric.  Pumpkins:  Let's stay with orange pumpkins for this Lotto.  Background:  Cream/off white prints. No scrappy backgrounds, use the same background throughout the block.    You can use the same background for all 3 blocks.  No dark tans or white.  Stems are green or brown, depending on the pumpkin!

I have posted several pictures for examples- I love all the fabrics - you can use orange prints, but they must read orange.  The only limitation I will put on the orange is not overtly halloween, as we are looking at more of a Pumpkin Patch in fall.

Lotto:  For each block you send in, your name will go into a hat where WINNERS will be drawn.   If I receive over 24 blocks,  they will be divided by 2 winners and if we go over 40 blocks they will be divided amongst 3 winners.

Postage:  To play, get your prewashed, quilt shop quality orange fabrics out and make some pumpkins!   For each block you send in, please send ONE forever stamp.   So 3 blocks, send 3 stamps.  With the way the post office has defined "package", even the 6.5 inch blocks when returned will count as a package, thus a stamp for each block.

Mail To:  Sheila Hastings  PO Box 1055  Fort Morgan, CO 80701

The Pumpkin Patch is the limit with these - you could make little table runners, a small wall hanging, or a large quilt!  And you only have to make 1, 2, or 3 blocks!!!

The lotto opens today!    Please post in this thread your name, the size blocks, and how many you will be making. (pictures would be great!) I will add you to the chart.  Check in weekly to avoid the patch.

Blocks must be post-marked by August 31 must be received by the drawing date, September 5 to be included in the drawing. Mail early so that they are here by the drawing!!   Please make sure to post when you mail.

Sheila

That's really nice, Sheila. Is this one you made for the lotto or for yourself?

My company is all gone.  Putting house back in order.  I will wash fabrics tonight and start making these blocks tomorrow.  I actually think I'm going to make applique ones in the hoop on embroidery machine.  Not stitched out, but appliqued.  Found some really cute patterns.  Is this acceptable?
