Has anyone heard of Floriday International University?  My older son is thinking about going there through their online program.  He is also looking a Arizona State which I am familiar with.

OOH, OOH, I know ASU...don't know FIU.  I do think ASU tends to have a Party rep, but I also think that a serious student will do VERY well there.  If he picks ASU, me know.  Maybe we could meet!

I'd check it out to see if it is a for profit school.  I don't trust them.  They often are only interested in federal school loan dollars.  Check out their certifications.  Just my opinion though.

yes I told him that ASU has that reputation, but since he would be taking classes online.. and hes not a party person we don't have that issue to worry about :). He did say. benefit of him going there (benefit for me as his mom) is he can participate in graduation LOL

Chelle, ASU does have a good rep for education.  AND I do get the benefit (for you as Mom) of Graduation.  I would want that...sometimes the kids don't think it important, but it is so special.

Two friends have had their kids months from graduation and the college closed without warning. Note left on the door! They happily had them get loans but no explanation or transcript. Beware those for profit colleges. My brother taught at a for profit college. He definitely had no degree or work experience. Spent most of his life on welfare or disability for stress. I know nothing about the one you’re considering.

Apparently, it's a state university in Florida, despite it's name.  One of my education professors got all 3 of his degrees there (he was born and raised in Miami.)  His teaching degree was in '82 and his ed doctorate in '02.  (I looked up his profile on the university website, to confirm my memory)

Yes, it's a very legit school here in FL. It's a 4 year university in Miami.
