Snowballs to Gumballs
2019 QATW Swap Theme:
something old, something new
something borrowed, something blue

http://www.quiltingaroundtheworld.com/gallery/fullsize.aspx?aid=11475&pid=87688

THE SWAP:
This is a centralized swap open to all skill levels. We need 9 or more swappers to make this a GO!
You must not be in the Briar patch and you must have signed the swapping agreement. LINK

Bringing back a swap that was offered in June 2011, hosted by fernie (I borrowed much of write-up)!
These blocks are 9.5", 6.5" and 3.5" (unfinished) super-quick/super-easy/super-fun snowballs.
We want Kona white (corners), TOTs, bright novelties & kid/fun themes...
Very, very little, if any, white OR black (almost none) in the "ball". We want the white corners to "pop"!

Click here for help in calculating size for corners.

Each swapper will place the following in each baggie...
One 9.5" block
Four 6.5" blocks
Six 3.5" blocks
You will need to make 9 baggies worth...mailing 8 and keep one at home for yourself.
If you would like to participate in the swap, post below and send PM with pertinent swapping infoto Firesidequilter. Sign-ups close 3 February 2019!

Swap blocks should be postmarked no later than 4 March 2019 for U.S. swappers and
1 week earlier for non-U.S. mailers.

Don't forget to post weekly progress reports!
Be sure to label your baggies with your name and QATW nickname so that other swappers know who to give those gold stars out to.

Note: The 9.5" block, one 6.5" block, and one 3.5" block must be cut from the same fabric.
This will leave swappers with three 6.5" blocks and five 3.5" blocks.
Of those, two 6.5" blocks and two 3.5" blocks should be cut from the same fabric (but different from the first set).
The remainders can be from all the same fabric (but different from the first two sets) or as varied as you want them tobe.

No fewer than THREE different fabrics are to be used and in same baggie.
If you pick ALL the same colors for the blocks, you won't have the same result as the quilt above.
If you have a SOME matching, this quilt can be used as a "Memory" or "I Spy" quilt for the little ones.

Nine baggies will provide almost enough to make top posted in photo above, you will need to make some additional 3.5" unfinished balls.

This is what needs to be cut for EACH BAGGIE...this is the minimum for fabrics (3)...and of course, add the white corners to complete the snowballs!

No photo description available.

Oh my goodness!  It's so cute!!!  I can't make the timeline work, though, so I'll have to save the idea and make my own...

ok, this one looks easy and quick; and it's always good to have an almost complete baby quilt laying around!

Stupid question: are we completing the blocks or just cutting squares and swapping those for sewing into snowballs

~we are sending in loose snowballs...this allows you to assemble blocks/top as you wish...fsq

This quilt is sew cute and I'm very tempted.  I'll have to wait a week and see if I still am tempted.

Looks fun and easy.  I'm going to think on this while I'm away and maybe I'll find some fun fabrics to do this with.  There are a couple of quilt shops in Lake Havasu.

So, you don't sew the corners on?  Just include the blocks and the white blocks for the corners. No sewing?

You are sewing the white squares on the colored squares...making the snowball/gumball.

I was just trying to clarify the # of blocks & fabric options in each baggie.

I ordered some kona white a few days ago, and I picked out my coloured fabric and have it washed and ready to go. Hope my kona comes soon.
