Not really home retreat - but I will be at the library tomorrow with a few of my sewing pals. 9 hours of laughter, stories and sewing. Yea!

It's the perfect quilting weather here, showers and cool. I have mt first two quilt tops ready for basting. But last night I didn't feel like basting. So I busted out a batik jelly roll and started quilt #3. It has about 1000 snowball corners (this may be an exageration). So today I am happily working on blocks for #3. Kiddo's are being good too.I took them to the moveis yesterday and they are being good for me.

Frances cottage pie sounds delicious, do tell what goes into it.

I often wonder how your la passion is coming along. Can you post a picture?

My home retreat is going great. I have finished project#3 (top). It's a quilt top, complete with all 1000 snowball corners. (that may be a slight exageration LOL). It's raining again and in 10minutes I am going downstairs to have a basting session. I have my 3 quilt tops ready to be basted. I know I have backing for two of them, and I am hoping I have backing for the third one in my stash.

Tracey, looks like you are having lots of time for sewing/quilting.  I'm anxious to see what you've been working on.

Hi Laura my La passion is growing very slowly not helped by the fact i made a mistake i had missed out a row of hexies all the way round so had to undo lots.

Cottage pie is basically the same as shepherds pie over here cottage pie is made with beef mince and shepherds pie made with lamb mince every family seems to have there own variation so this is my mums version, cook some mince in a saucepan with some onions you can also add peas and carrots if you fancy add some gravy either powder or gravy made up and then add a tin of baked beans a bit of worcester sauce adds a bit of extra flavour. Boil some potatoes and mash them put the mince mixture in a casserole dish add the mash on top make a pretty pattern on the top with a fork, grate a bit of cheese on top and then put under the grill until lovely golden brown. Any questions please ask we think that mum added the beans when money was tight and it just made the mince stretch further, but we all like it with it in so we have always had it like that.

Lots of love

Francesxx

MM, now I want soup, after reading this thread :) Those cookies look awesome too, I love ginger snaps!

Hamburger soup seems to be pretty popular. I, too, have a recipe for it. Haven't made it in a long time though...

Keep a smile in your heart :) Dorian

Just had my 9 hour retreat with my quilty friends at our local library and had a blast! I got so much done. This Saturday I am attending a 12 hour retreat at a local quilt shop. $25 for all day, lunch and dinner. The owner has them periodically - but this is the first time I could attend.

I will be making blocks, binding some small quilts and putting on a border. I also have about 100 HST to work on too. Yea! A whole day!

Marian, you are a lucky girl!  How fun.  Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy and you get to spend time with quilty friends besides.

Amazing Francis! All those tiny pieces.

My retreat at home continues. I have finished quilting project#3, and also project#2. So they just need binding. Project #1 needs basting. Hopefully I will get #1 basted and quilted tonight. Then it's just the binding on all three. Lucky I machine bind my quilts!

Quilt #3 finished!! I have company coming soon, but later tonight I will be binding and basting. I am on a roll. Tomorrow is my last day of quilt retreat at home. I am back at work on Thursday, but not until 2 pm, so I have an extra morning up my sleeve if needed. Determined to get these three completed. Plus I am half way through some place mats for a Christmas gift. They are quick and easy.

Frances - I am patiently waiting the finish of LaPassion, it is beautiful and I love it. Can’t wait to use it:). Your mom’s version of the pie sounds delicious, I like the addition of beans, they are my favorite. I am thinking everyone here will be like “WHAT” now she is putting beans in our shepherds pie. What nextnervous

Marian - what fun to spend the day with quilty friends.

Tracy you are a sewing machine. You really took advantage of your time off for making quilts. Hope you enjoyed your company and didn’t rush them out the door so you could get back to Quiltingwoohoo Great job on all your finishes. You could have done like my sone did when he was about 2 or 3. We had company over and the guys got up to go outside. He walked over and slapped my brother on the behind and said “You can go now”. Clearly he was tired of company silly
