I am at the "Sleep In My Own Bed Retreat" making good progress on a couple projects I have going.

I will finish the little woolie tonight and hopefully get to the sashing on the quilt tomorrow.

Hope you all are having fun too.

I've been pushing myself for days to see my way clear to sew a trial block and make a final design decision before I forge ahead and sew and then spend more time ripping. Today shoud be the day! I'll post with one block hopefully later today.

I have been working on the Bench pillow.  Really enjoying this swap.  I am also going to make a couple of sample blocks for my floral log cabin.  Will post pics when I get a couple made.  The Pat Sloan Let's Go Camping blocks are still on my wall and I either need to take them off and put aside or sew them together.  Still need to cut the setting blocks for that.

Laura, I adore your Fancy Forest blocks.  Sew darned cute!  Your wool pumpkin, just beautiful!

I finished my mug rug yesterday. Swap blocks tonight and laying out a boot wall hanging for sashing. I think I have 2 blocks to change the boot tops for the customer.

Me!  Yesterday  I finished up the christmas log cabins and the brown flying geese for ORL.  Today I am going to finish up a quilt top and hopfully work on some fall table toppers.   I am cooking for the Ranch Roping finals on Saturday so in between, I am getting goodies ready for that.   Put this in the crockpot for today and the rest of the week.

Thanks Everyone - the Fancy Forest blocks are fun to make.

I am so glad I am not the only one retreating at home.

Great idea Chelle. I am usually sporadic in my quilting as I work all kinds of hours, but from today I have 7 days off work. I have been planning a week long home quilt retreat. I do have lots of other things to do as well, but I have the rare opportunity to do a few hours of quilting every day.

The general plan is to get 5 quilts finished. All are at verious stages from finished tops to blocks, to still in pieces. This is going to be fun!

WOW Tracy
What I wouldn’t give to have 5 days off to sew. I used my vacation recently for my sons wedding. Not much sewing time. My next vacation will be for sewing.

Can’t wait to see pics of your quilts

I spent my day off yesterday quilting on my bingo quilt.  Little more left to do and I'm hoping to spend a couple evenings this week working on that.  Not tonight though, since I didn't get home from work until 9 pm.

The way to get started is to quit talking and start doing.

Brenda,  It is hamburger veggie soup.  I cooked up the hamburger with onion, garlic salt and pepper.  I chopped up some carrots, potatoes, and celery and put that in the crock pot.  I added a large can of crushed tomatoes, a can of french onion soup, and some beef boullion.  Then I added about 2 of the tomatoe cans of water, and the hamburger.

Then I cooked it on high for a couple of hours the put it on low.  Add whatever veggies you like.  It freezes well also.  Add the water as to how soupy or thick you like your soup.

I got this top done.  I was going to put a border on it, but it is already 77x90.  So I think I am going to leave it.  Got to figure out a backing.  I also cut my 2 inch squares of bg for the peach sashing for On Ringo Lake and the 2 inch squares of turqouise for the corners of the block.  I have to cut some brown half square triangles to finish up those.  Making Progress!!

Ohhh Sheila, I love your top.

I did a little shop hopping last night. whistle Stopped by The Fat Quarter Shop and then on to Buttermilk Basin. Both shops are fabulous and did end up bringing home the fabric. Flannel, wool and of course cotton.

I finally got started late afternoon and got organized so I should be able to make good progress today. I ran my errands yesterday so I can concentrate on sewing for a day or two.

Sheila-I keep forgetting about hamburger soup. I really should make up the meat with the seasoning components before freezing. I can then finish with veggies in smaller batches for a few days at a time. it will save on overall freezer space plus make a good base for variations. Thanks for the cooking inspiration. Winter is nipping at our heels.

Sheila, love your quilt.  Is that the zipper pattern?  Your soup looks absolutely delicious.  Your sauce looks so rich and thick.  Yummy.  Fred makes a mean hamburger (he calls it stew) soup.  Problem with him is he keeps adding and adding and pretty soon we have two pots of it and while it does freeze well, we forget it's in there.  Your picture made me really hungry for hamburger soup.
