Interesting, Patti.  Wonder how many of us are in "compliance".  I know I'm not.  My chair is not right and my arms don't rest flush with the table.  I have found that when I am sewing the binding on a  large quilt, if I put my machine on my cutting tables which are on risers and I stand while sewing it on, it feels much better.  Maybe I need to raise my sewing tables and stand instead of sit.  Anyone else find that standing is more comfortable than sitting while sewing?

My husband and I often shake our heads at the modern day quilter sitting for hours at a retreat or quilting with friends. Blood was spilled for garment workers’ rights and here we are enjoying a 14 hour day with our friends.

Sad but true, Marian!  I have to force myself to leave my station at retreats to go for a walk or a swim (if at hotel), do some yoga, or change sewing tasks.  If I don't, my body suffers when I'm back home.  The 2-day drive to and from retreats is hard on the body, too.

My sewing set-up at home meets most of these requirements, but at retreats, we have less than ideal sewing stations.
