Are you ready to tackle some of those pesky UFO's this year?

Ready to get some finished so you don't feel guilty being distracted by fun new projects while your old ones gather dust?

Don't have many UFO's but have many kits or planned projects that you never seem to get too?

Well this is the year I am focusing on reducing my UFO's and if you'd like to join me we can all encourage each other

Here's how it will work:

1st:  Make a list of UFO's/projects 1 - 12 , Here's a handy chart I found on allpeoplequilt. Post your lists on this thread.

2nd: Each month you will then have 3 choices. Choose the one that will be the most motivating and work the best for you.

Choice #1. Each month I will draw a number that will be posted on the 1st of each month. That will be the project you will work on that month.

Choice#2. Write your projects in the order you will work on them, #1 will be for January, etc. This will be helpful if you have one that you need done for a certain month or if you know some months will be busy and you'll only have time to do smaller UFO's/projects.

Choice#3. Pick any project from your list each month...not recomended if you are a procrastinator, you'll likely end up with the largest/hardest ones at the end

If you have BIG projects and you know you can't finish them in a month you can list them in 2 or more slots

The main goal here is to

GET THESE PROJECTS OUT AND WORK ON THEM

and even better FINISH THEM

And there is a  bonus option for any other crazy quilters like me who have a gazillion UFO's/kits/preplanned projects laying aroud.

You can continue your list up to 50 ( don't need to post the extended list here) and I will draw a bonus number each month between 13 and 50.

If you have that number ...say 36, then you can get that project out and work on it too. Or maybe just make some progress on it. If you don't have 36 then just choose a different one, maybe the last one on your list, or 26, or which ever one strikes your fancy. Remember kits and preplanned projects can be on this list too if you don't have that many UFO's.

Each month in 2017 I will open a new thread for that month and I will list the numbers I drew. So be on the lookout for January's thread to be up by Jan 1st.

Each month we want to see your starting photo and your ending photo. Progress ones are nice too. No need to check in daily but let us know how you're progressing during the month. And we want to see any finishes you have..show off your finishes so we can ooh and ahh.

Important note: You DO NOT have to finish your project to what it was origianallly intended. If it's something that you don't particulary like or it's just too much work to finish and you've lost interest you CAN make in into something different, a lap quilt, baby quilt, wheelchair quilt, wall hanging, tablerunner, totebag.

I will have drawings each month, I will tell you about them at the beginning of each month.

For now I will draw a lucky name (or two) form all those who post their lists by DEC 31st

The winner(s) will recieve one of my UFO's....ha-ha, just kidding, I'm sure it will be something wonderful

So what are you waiting for...dig out those UFO's and projects and start making a list

What is "QATW Friends," Veronica?  I'm your friend. Are you making a block that looks like me?

Judy T, do you realize you have "Maggie Walker Rooster Quilt" on your list 3 times?  I've seen your blocks.  They look too involved to be making 3 of those quilts.

Oh my heavens Nancy, NO, not making three. (my heart starts to race even thinking of it). I thought Jacy said if we have a major project that will take lots of time we could list it more than once.

I see that now.  So you will go with option #1 and let Jackie announce which project to work on each month?  Hmmm, I'm still thinking if I can give up that control.  Probably not.

Donna, if I decide that I'll never finish them and then offer them for FREE on the trading post, that means they were not turning out very well.  I'm not sure you'd want them except maybe for a donation quilt.

Awesome lists ladies

I figured I'd better get my list going too. Some of these projects have been waiting far too long to be finished. And some may be difficult to finish in a month, but there's nothing like a deadline to keep me focused and accomplish a lot.

1. Moonglow

2. Harry Potter

3. Cottages

4. Fruit Loops

5. Wheel of Mystery

6. Tropical fish

7. Garden Party

8. Dancing Stars

9. Austen Family

10. Frances' Sampler

11. String quilt

12. Happy Homes
