Yes oh Yes I have pulled the box out and dusted it off. I am taking blocks to a mini retreat I am going to at the end of the month here in San Diego County. |

I have my background washed and ready, but I have twelve barns to make first and a Halloween party to get ready for

Very impressive! Beautiful Patricia Faye! I have the book but afraid to open it! I, too, start way to much and then put it aside but sure do love seeing those who complete one. Wow to both of your gorgeous quilts! And Benda, your blocks are beautiful- hope your little mini retreat went well and you were able to add a few more!

Is anyone planning on working on their Dear Jane quilt in 2016? I have a goal to make one block a week. I think it is a very achievable goal and will get me much closer to having all the blocks done.

I need to pull mine out. I haven't worked on it for a while. With just a little effort I could have a finished top. |

I started working on block I-4. I haven't done applique for quite a while and it shows. Oh, well. It's done now and I'm not taking it out. I should have the block done in a day or two.

During the year I will be posting my block count ( number of blocks hand quilted ). 52 is my goal !

I'm in awe of y'all who are doing this. I think I might be able to do one block but not all of them.
You go girls...

Go Veronica Go
My Dear Jane is somewhere close by. I may not get to her this month I have too much on my plate. I'm thinking she needs to get on my February schedule before it gets full too. |

I don't generally like redoing blocks, but I have to redo the center of I-4. I tried to make it according to tips I got from a blog which said I should applique the center onto the background. Well, when you look closely at Jane's block the center is actually the background and some melons are appliqued onto it, like a cathedral window. So, I'm making mine to look more like Jane's. I think it will turn out much better.

Don't blame you.. I found some in the book that were the same way... drafted differently from what Jane had done ... I also tried to go with patterns that were closer to her's. Way to take the time and fix !!!

Decided to start my day by putting in an hour on DJ and was able to get a TRI quilted in just a bit over an hour ( it was a solid spacer ).
I think the next pieced tri will take well over 2 hours but I'm excited to be on block 3 already. woohoo

I am not proud of this but I am owning it, I have a "WORD" document that I've been keeping for my DJ journey. Here is my first entry:
Nov 12, 2004
I just finished my first Jane Stickle block. It was A-7 (Dad’s Plaids, 8 pieces) and it feels good to know I’m finally getting started on this quilt. I bought the book in April and started collecting a few Civil War prints then and am currently swapping to increase my stash. I intend to follow the colors that Jane used in the Trip Around the World format. The larger the variety of fabrics in my quilt the happier I will be. I did modify the pattern size slightly as the wedges were much larger than the ones Jane made for her block. Mine are a tiny bit larger than Jane’s, but they are much smaller than the book called for. I intend to make my blocks look as much like Jane’s as I can. J 1,0,0,8 |
