At one point, many quilters tire of their Dear Jane project or change their mind on the fabrics they chose.   There are other options if this happens.   Any quilt you make using some of the same block patterns Jane Stickle used are simply tributes to her and the original quilt.   You don't have to use her layout nor all the blocks.  Here are just a FEW of the possibilities :

Have to dig out my book and cd so I can get some patterns printed.  Still planning on making my DJ in brights with white for the background.  Really hope to make some progress on this soon.  Also need to see if I have enough different brights for this.  Want to use stash and hopefully not have to buy any fabric for the top.

My sewing machine is calling me and today I hope to listen! Sally

L-11  the pattern doesn't look like Jane's.  It's similar but when you have a block made in Brenda's pattern and compare it to Jane's, it's very different.    I didn't catch it when I made my blocks so I have Brenda's version.

I started my Dear Jane a couple months ago and have, I think, 25 blocks completed. I have both the book and the software, and use them both. I especially like the software for help with the triangles. Here are blocks D-1, A-9 and A-4. Sure do hope I'm doing this right. Somebody thump me if I'm not.

dear jane blocks

Yay, I got it!

Here's my blocks I've made so far. 57 and a few duplicates (extras!)

And my triangles, only 5 of them. They are going to be in a seperate quilt something, Forest Jane or something like that.

1st 5 triangles

Thanks for the heads up. You're right. The CD has the right layout. I've printed out the Foundation piecing pattern and will use that.

Hello, I'm new to QATW but have been working on the Dear Jane blocks since December .  I've completed Rows A & B alonq with about 40 of the blocks that required applique'.  I'm visiting my daughter in Maryland so brought along those blocks so I would have some hand sewing to do.  I'm glad I did too.  I fly home to Texas on Wednesday so hope to get back to my sewing room by the weekend.  I'll post a picture of the 2 completed rows once I get home.  I'm really enjoying the Dear Jane blocks.  I prefer to paper piece whenever I can.  The Dear Jane site has been really helpful too.

I really enjoy seeing what you all are doing!  I'll be back here soon.

I spent most of the day in and out of the Quilting room working on my DJ.  I finish one block after redueing it twice.  Block A5 Cathie's Campfire. I posted a picture to my Galary. Happy Quilting Everyone.

I have been working on my Dear Jane throughout February, but was posting under the contest thread.  Now, that is over so I'll come back here to do my posting about progress.

Right now, I have 51 blocks complete and one that is nearly done.  I am hand cutting and hand stitching all my blocks, so this takes a bit longer than it might others.  I am doing my quilt in a Trip Around the World colorway and am working on all the green blocks.  I have 10 more to finish.

I chose my Dear Jane as one of my projects for the April challenge, I think a couple of others did too. I worked on these blocks A LOT in February and made great progress, but it's been back to slow speed again, neglected actually for a few weeks. But April 1st is only 2 days away, so time to get to work again. Here's where I'm at.....I'm working from the bottom up now, joining them into rows as I go

Everyone is doing such a great ob!  Congrats!   I haven't been able to even turn my machine on for over two months -- all unplanned but maybe I will be able to sew again by June.

Hi All,

I am wondering if you are stitchin the DJ blocks by hand or machine?

I purchased the DJ program sometime ago and haven't started yet.  A bit torn on if I should hand stitch or machine stitch.

Very nice blocks Sally, love those bright colors.

I got another block made today, E-12 Mary Ruth's corset

I'm going to keep my Dear Jane as my THIS project for the May contest, so I can keep working on it. Anyone want to join me, if we all pick it as our THIS project we would all work on our Dear Jane's on the same days in May

I'm doing many by machine but some are just easier by hand. I don't think you have to decide on a set way, see what works best for each block. Some of my blocks are even a combo of machine and hand work.
