I use to use it so many years ago.  I need a BIG refresher.

I've done it once on a mug rug and have plans to do it again on another quilt that I'm still hand piecing. I love it - adds character quickly.

Love it. Love it! I just watched a couple of YouTube videos. My advice: Start small.

I've never tried BIG stitch quilting.  I followed Teatime's lead and went to YouTube and found one tutorial that was really good to watch...sure got me interested in trying.  This technique looks very relaxing as opposed to moving wads of quilt through a domestic sewing machine.

I want to try it also.  I even bought some thread but have never found the right project to use it on. Guess I should make something small that matches my thread!!

Have you all heard of "spagetti" thread? it's supposed to be great for that technique.

If you look close you can make out the big stitching I did on my S-I-L quilt I made for him for Christmas a few years ago. It was my first attempt and I really liked how quick the hand stitching went. He was acting silly for his DD.

My current handquilting project is big stitch with perle cotton. I really like it. Only thing is I think my stitches tend to run a bit shorter than most.

I think my machine basting stitch looks a lot like like big stitch.  But not sure.  I do think it looks pretty cool.

My machine has that stitch too but that would not be the same as us actually doing the hand stitching lol

I had planned to big stitch quilt my Gypsy Wife, and I love the look, but I didn’t enjoy the technique. I had a hard time pulling the pearle cotton through the fabric, and my hands started hurting, so I quit and machine quilted instead.

I have tried...actually quilting one now.....BUT!!

I come from a long line of Amish quilters and was taught the tiny even stitches and I am having one heck of a time with this BIG stitch thing!!! I'm not giving up yet!! (they also thought I had lost my marbles when I started machine quilting!!)

I love big stitch quilting. I like having the quilting be very prominent. I love adding that extra pop of color.

I zoomed in and saw the stitches Bonita!    Great job!

Like Cindy, I want to try but I'll need to find the RIGHT project for it.

100 years ago when I first started quilting, we were taught NOT to have large stitches.. they called them toenail grabbers or something like that.     One lady had a quilt at a retreat and the BIG stitches really added to the over all look so I knew when the project comes along, I'll give it a go too.

hugs, gg
