JANIACS IN JANUARY

That's right all you Janiacs we are about to make progress.  I'm going with progress because there's only a one in a million chance any of us will FINISH our quilts in January.   Grab your patterns, fabrics and a bit of time and let's sew!!

Each day you make progress, share about it here.  For every 7 days of progress, your names goes into the hat at the end of the month.   So even if you only work on your project 7 days in January, you have a chance at a prize!!! For this contest progress will be 20 minutes or better in a single day

For each block you complete, your name also goes into the hat.   So make 3 blocks in one week and your name goes in 3 times!

Technically you could work 19 minutes a day and never get your name in the pot under "progress posting" BUT, if you finish 5 blocks, you'd get your name in 5 times so LOTS of ways to get your name in the pot.

I'm playing with you guys but am not in the running for prizes.   For me, making progress is the biggest reward.   For you,  I will be drawing 4 names!!  You can win more than once so KEEP BUSY!

I doubt I could enter this (perhaps I will travel) but more than happy to grant prizes.

Oh sign me up, I plan on doing better this year, even though I am back to babysitting one of the grands.

Mine is partially quilted but I have some (really alot) of stitches to remove, re-press & re-quilt to co because I discovered some puckers that CANNOT stay!  I think it has been set aside for 3 months now, so it's high on my list of UFOs to Complete in 2019!

After a few years, my jane is back in daylight.   Tonight I did some hand quilting on one block and tomorrow I will finish it.  :D

I have Jane pulled out and she is patiently waiting at my work space!  I have about 10 inches of binding to finish then hope to work on her for a bit before changing over to start cutting the MQ.  I will post a picture of her in a bit.

My sewing machine is calling me and today I hope to listen! Sally

I put in an hour today working on the center of H-3.  Tomorrow I hope to sew it all together.

Okay, row one is finally a row.  Took about 30 mins to sew and press the row.  Now to see how many of the blocks in row two are drafted, but that will be for another day!  Getting tired.

Between the 1st and the 2nd, I got one block quilted   and I've marked a TRI with quilting lines.  (i am hand quilting and I am squinting at each block to see where Jane put in her quilting lines.   )    Just makes me happy to do it so similar to how she did it.

This is one of those things that I put off and put off and eventually when I get back to it, I love it again.  :)

If I could wish it so, the quilting would be done this year...  but then again, I'd be 140 pounds instead of 167.  LOL

This evening I quilted 2 threads on a TRI and should be able to finish it with 1.5 more.  :D

I put in an hour or so on block H-3 and finished it tonight.

Sadly, I didn't realize until I pressed it and was comparing it with the book that my center is turned. Honestly, this was such a struggle that I'm going to leave it.  A turned center is the least of the issues with this block.

While watching a baking show this morning, I quilted that last 1.5 threads and finished a Tri.   That's 2 blocks quilted in Jan so far.

If I can keep up this pace, I'd end January with 15 blocks quilted and that's a bit over a ROW.

Great job, GG!

Sally, I love the look of your row!  Do you have more blocks done or do you still need to make blocks?

I believe most call it by  "Dear Jane".   A woman named Jane Stickle made this quilt over a 4 year period around the U.S. Civil war.  A woman saw it in a museum and drafted the patterns to sell.  Her name is Brenda Papadakis  225 patterns and none are repeats.   There are many versions or tributes that don't make all 225.  :)

I spent an hour sewing 2 seams and cutting fabric on A-4 today.  I'm so glad the center was already done last year.  I'm really struggling with precision on these blocks this time around.
